Huerquehue - National Park

While we were climbing the volcano the Brits were asking the guide about the Huerquehue (pronounced "where-keh-weh") national park. This gave us the idea to visit it, which we did the next day with the whole family.

Jorge Jr. took this picture of us in front of the lake there. There are seven lakes that you are supposed to be able to see from the top of the Volcano but we only saw three, lake Villarica, Caburga (where we canoed), and this one.
Sita and I went for a little hike, but we couldn't go too far because we didn't bring enough water and her parents were just hanging out by the lake while we were gone.
Most of the trail passed through dense vegetation with trees and bamboo-type plants (possibly bamboo itself, but it's unclear).
After about half an hour on the trail we met back up with a road. We didn't know at the time that the road into the park led deeper in. There was even a few businesses at the end of the road including some mom and pop shops selling home-made honey, and a restaurant.
Some views of the park.

You can see the waterfall that we would have hiked to, had we been prepared in these two photos.

An "Alerce" (pronounced "ah-ler-seh") tree that we encountered along our walk. It's really a very pretty tree.
The bamboo-type plant.
Another view of the Volcanoe, this one as we left the park.
